When Fort Lauderdale-based Douglas Elliman agent Julie Jones decided to establish a women’s networking group for South Florida businesswomen and entrepreneurs, she wasted little time in getting to work. In January 2022, the very month Jones came up with the idea, the Julie Jones Women’s Group was up and running with ten founding members. Now known as Lux Ladies for their involvement in the luxury sectors of their industries, the group has grown to more than 40 women.

“Lux Ladies focuses on networking, business referrals and providing a supportive platform for women in the luxury market sectors,” Jones said. “It aims to help women new to South Florida, start-up businesses and those passionate about the business world.”
Jones is certainly no stranger to the luxury market. With an average sales price of $7 million, she has completed more than $2 billion in total sales over the course of a career representing a clientele of celebrities, athletes and business owners.
“The group was started to create a space for exchanging ideas, maintaining contact and offering support among women in business,” she said. “The fast-paced and complex nature of real estate made it challenging to connect individually, so forming a group allowed for more efficient and meaningful interactions.”
Having a community offers a great support system, something Jones understands intimately.
“Throughout my career, I had many great mentors who helped me along the way,” she said. “These experiences highlighted the importance of networking and support, which I now aim to pass on to other women in the business through Lux Ladies.”
And coming out of the pandemic, with texting and video chats still substituting for real connection, Lux Ladies offers vital opportunities to connect with others in-person.
The group is also involved in the community through its support for nonprofit organizations like Royal Dames of Cancer Research Inc. , which has raised millions of dollars for cancer research, and Tomorrow’s Rainbow , which brings miniature horses to bereaved children for a therapeutic experience.
Participation in Lux Ladies is limited to one woman per industry to ensure that each market sector is uniquely represented within the group. Interested individuals are encouraged to fill out the form on their website, LuxLadiesFL.com , especially if their market sector is not currently represented. Right now, they are looking for women in the categories of hair and makeup, dermatology, nutrition and wellness, car sales and more.
“Lux Ladies offers support that fosters professional growth, increased business opportunities and a stronger sense of community among its members,” Jones said.
