Genevieve Cardozo Sonsino and Richard McTighe are both brokers who specialize in the sale of residential property and have consistently ranked as top agents at Douglas Elliman, New York City’s largest residential real estate brokerage firm. Both came to the business through Mrs. Benjamin Cardozo, an icon in New York City real estate for over forty years (Genevieve is her grand-daughter and was her right hand woman, Richard was her long time right hand man) and worked with her until her retirement in 2014, at which point they established the Sonsino-McTighe team. Richard McTighe has been in the business for twenty-two years and Genevieve Sonsino has been for eleven years. Both consummate New Yorkers—residential real estate is their craft and passion. Genevieve and Richard are broker specialists at one of New York City’s top tier cooperatives, 825 Fifth Avenue. A native New Yorker, Genevieve loves the dynamism of residential sales. Respected for her discretion, integrity, and acute understanding of New York real estate, she has built a strong business across the strata of this city’s market. Genevieve attended The 92nd Street Y, The Lycee Francais de New York, and graduated from The Spence School in Manhattan. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College. Genevieve is fluent in French. She and her husband reside in a cooperative on East 79th Street, close to where she was born and raised.

His vast experience and market knowledge is matched only by his honesty and integrity. Richard takes great pride in the enduring professional relationships he has culled over two decades in the real estate brokerage business. Prior to joining Douglas Elliman, he held positions with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Harvard University’s real estate division. He holds a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation from Boston University and a Bachelor’s degree from Union College in Schenectady, New York. He grew up in Massachusetts, and still spends significant time on Cape Cod. Richard currently resides in a Gramercy Park cooperative where serves as Vice President of his coop board.
