As a former, Executive Manager of Sales, Executive Vice President and Director of Sales for Douglas Elliman’s thriving West Side, Jeff Rothstein was at the helm of one of the leading residential real estate forces in Manhattan. Under his insightful and foresightful leadership, he has not only grown Douglas Elliman’s sales force of approximately 300 sales associates and staff members, but increased its overall sales volume to an impressive figure exceeding a billion dollars consistently for the past 10 years. In 2017 he received the Real Estate Board of New York's coveted Eileen Spinola Award for outstanding real estate community service. In 2013 his greatest achievements were recognized within the real estate community with the Henry Forrester Memorial award, the highest honor awarded to a residential broker.
His incomparable understanding of the business stems from his success as a top-producing, award-winning broker who entered the real estate arena in 1986, and joined the firm in 1991. Jeff is an animated, readily-available, hands-on guy who is always striving to implement new and creative ways to help people realize their real estate needs and wants.
A native New Yorker born and raised in Manhattan, Jeff first became intrigued by real estate thanks to his grandfather, who sold townhouses and commercial property during the historic property boom after WW1. The incredible insider’s view to which he was exposed combined with his vivid memories of the city’s architectural evolution during the last half of the 20th Century fueled his desire to ultimately embrace the Manhattan real estate market as his profession.
Prior to that, however, Jeff experienced two other exciting and diverse careers. Having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Arizona State University, his one-semester focus on archeology at the American College in Jerusalem drove him to work in the airline industry upon graduation to broaden his knowledge of the world’s varied cultures, indigenous peoples, and great architecture. After a safari in Nairobi, an archeological dig in Peru, and flying Nigerian Muslim pilgrims to Mecca, Jeff returned to New York to study acting and social work at the New School of Social Research. Curiously, it was his subsequent volunteer involvement at The Resident’s Bowery Committee finding apartments for the homeless that brought him full circle to the real estate profession.
His clients appreciate his encyclopedic market knowledge, elephant-like memory, exceptional technological savvy and exhilarating professionalism. He is also an outstanding instructor and community member who gives of his time both in and outside of the professional arena. Jeff is integral to the Real Estate Board of New York as Co-Chair of the Deal of the Year Charity Gala Committee and the Ethics Committee. He additionally serves on the Executive Board of Directors for Broadway Mall Association and Chairperson of the Broadway in Bloom annual charity event. Jeff is a past winner of the “Westy Award” for his outstanding West Side Spirit and citizenship. An avid tennis player, Jeff organized the Douglas Elliman’s tennis team to 1st place victory with the Metro Corporate tennis group through the United States Tennis Association.
