I started working in Real Estate while I was a junior in high school. At that time,I had a manual typewriter, no electric yet and there were no computers, iPhones, or iPads - everything was done face to face and written down on a yellow legal pad! Customers' addresses were kept in an alphabetized recipe card file....but it worked!
Later, I familiarized myself with computers, learned the MLS system, and kept up with the times. But I still believe that all in all, the best part - the most important part - of Real Estate is the relationship of the agent with the buyer or seller.
I have been living in Hampton Bays for more years than I care to mention! (1966) My husband and I moved to the Hamptons with our three children in tow, where we built and operated a motel/marina, Colonial Shores Resort. The business was a true success, and over 54 years later, it is still in operation. Running the motel was truly a wonderful experience, helping customers and seeing them enjoy themselves in The Hamptons was very gratifying; now I strive to bring that pleasure to both sellers and buyers.
I returned to real estate in 1984 and at that time, I got my Broker's license. My son and I opened our own company, Premier Properties, which we ran until 2002, when it was sold to Century 21. I stayed with Century 21 for three years and then joined the Douglas Elliman team in 2005, and I've been very happy working for this top company. Attending corporate events has broadened my networking scope, and no matter where you travel, someone knows the Douglas Elliman name.
At the Douglas Elliman convention in March, 2019, I was acknowledged for Lifetime Achievement Award, having been in real estate for 60 years. It was truly an honor!
My ultimate goal is to serve my customers to the best of my abilities, using my wealth of knowledge and experience to make them feel comfortable and secure in their journey of buying, selling, or both!
