Spotlight On: Jenna and Joseph Van Asco

Joseph and Jenna Van Asco have quite the love story—not only did they meet and fall in love in the Hamptons, but they went on to build their successful real estate business in the market that they call home. Elliman Insider sat down with this powerhouse husband-and-wife duo to find out the many things they love about the Hamptons, how they use social media to help grow their business and why they chose Douglas Elliman.
Elliman Insider: When did you know that real estate was your calling?
Jenna and Joseph Van Asco: We both fell in love with Hamptons real estate at the same time but in different ways. Before we got married, Joe got his license & jumped right into selling. He had a natural knack for it. Jenna got involved on the creative side by staging some of Joe’s listings. We both love the Hamptons and are so grateful to be working in such a special market.
EI: What are some of your biggest challenges as agents?
J&J: The biggest challenge is finding the time to get it all done. We’ve taken on a divide and conquer system that’s been working great for us. Jenna is great at social media and marketing— a creative outlet for her. This allows Joe ample time for canvassing, showings and getting deals done.
EI: Do you live by a personal mantra or favorite saying?
J&J: We both are similar in that we really try to soak up the moment we are in. Everything is a blessing and an opportunity and we often find ourselves in awe of the life we’ve created. If we’ve learned anything over the last year it is that things can change in an instant. All we have is right now and right now, in this moment, everything is perfect.
EI: You’re a husband-and-wife duo that’s very active in your local community. Tell us how you met.
J&J: Joe grew up in the Hamptons and is a musician. Jenna was pursuing an acting career in the city and decided to take a break and work in the Hamptons for a summer. One Thursday night in July, Joe was playing a gig at The Blue Parrot and Jenna came to hang out with friends. We eventually got to talking and connected instantly over music and performing. We agreed to meet up and jam—and the rest is history! We started playing shows together a week later, fell in love and even now we still play music gigs all over the Hamptons. We’ve got a few coming up in Montauk at the Montauk Brew Co & the Surf Club.
EI: What do you both love most about the Hamptons?
J&J: There is so much to love! We love being so close to the water—the bay and the ocean. It brings so much joy & peace to our life. We also love the art scene—we love attending live shows and we try to support visual arts as much as possible.
EI: Why did you choose Elliman?
J&J: Jenna has always said she loves the Hamptons because it’s a small town, but is connected to a world of opportunities. That’s what we love about Elliman. When Joe was starting out, he had known a few agents that had been at Elliman for many, many years. They brought him in and this helped to foster really great personal and professional relationships that have taken us to where we are today. We have our local connections and support, but we are also connected to a larger network of resources, clients and support.
EI: How has Elliman upped your real estate game?
J&J: Elliman has a strong name in New York. A lot of customers and clients appreciate the brand awareness and the expansive reach that the company provides. We have connections all across Long Island from Montauk to Westhampton and beyond to New York City. A trusted referral network is an important part of the real estate world.
EI: You both have a great presence on social media. What have you learned about leveraging social media as a business tool and what do you find works best for you? Do you have a favorite platform?
J&J: We keep a strong pulse on social media trends as well as how the various platforms can be utilized and who the audience is. The trick is leveraging each platform to speak to those different audiences. We do our best to share fresh content that interests our current & potential clients and that isn’t always property photos or tours. We really are sharing the Hamptons lifestyle and who we are. We try to entertain, make people laugh and inspire— that’s who we are in real life! Right now, we are loving TikTok and Instagram Reels and are just having fun with it all!”
EI: Any new advice for agents?
J&J: There is so much that you learn just from doing—get organized and stay on top of technology as it evolves. When something doesn’t work out, try to learn as much as you can from from the experience.
EI: Where can we find you both when you’re not working?
J&J: We had our first baby last year—our daughter Aurora. So pretty much every moment is spent showing her the things we love: the beach, music and our home. It’s magical seeing our world through her eyes.
