Although we are already mid-way through August, there is still plenty of time to enjoy your summer wherever you are. And if you’re in the Hamptons, what better way to explore than through the eyes of these three agents from Douglas Elliman’s The Atlantic Team . Elliman Insider sat down with Justin Agnello , Hara Kang and James Keogh to find out how to summer in the Hamptons living even during COVID-19.
Elliman Insider: Why do you love the Hamptons in the summer?
Atlantic Team: We feel we all have lived here for a very good reason, a reason that has been magnified in light of recent events. We all can say we love the long summer days fill with outdoor air. We all surf, paddle, boat, and try to enjoy the waterways and summer memories that come with the outdoor lifestyle.
EI: How can you still enjoy the Hampton’s summer months during COVID-19?
AT: The Hamptons preserve and protect. The Peconic Land Trust, for example, protects land and water to the betterment of the entire community. Our team loves to utilize the protected waterways and trails for hiking and biking. We also really enjoy the state, county and private golf courses across the East End.
EI: Where’s the best place to grab a bite that only the locals know about?
AT : One of our personal favorites is Bostwick’s on the Harbor . Its back! And the sunsets and food were greatly missed.
EI: What do the Hamptons have that other summer destinations or beach-focused neighborhoods may not have?
AT: The Hamptons is the perfect storm for today’s real estate needs. The ocean, the bays, the quintessential towns by the sea, large preserved woods and open land—the East End is the last area of its kind on the island. Not to mention local farms producing top quality produce along with superior schools.
EI: How do the Hamptons change during each month (June, July, August, early September). Any trends you notice either in weather, people, or even the beaches?
AT: Normally the momentum builds from May through June and plateaus at a peak on July 4th. Then August is always full capacity in the Hamptons till Labor Day closes out with Tumbleweed Tuesday. However this year, the Hamptons became a year-round destination in March after the lockdown and we have not seen any slowing down since. The sales and rental numbers in the Hamptons are currently at all-time highs, and will likely continue with the work-from-home trend among others.
