By Grace Cassidy A recently renovated rowhouse in a quaint cul-de-sac is currently on the market the first time since the 1940s, offering prospective homebuyers the chance to reside in a historic corner of London’s Notting Hill. Located in Codrington Mews—a row of attached houses built in the 1860s along an L-shaped bend in North Kensington—the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is listed for £3,485,000 (~$4.47 million USD) with Jack Thomas, an agent for Douglas Elliman’s international partner, Knight Frank Residential. Spanning 1,800 square feet, the historic homes includes a host of contemporary features, from an open-concept kitchen and dining space with Miele appliances, underfloor heating and air conditioning to a state-of-the-art entertainment system. Located on the ground floor, the kitchen also features quartz countertops, a twin-temperature Dunavox wine fridge, Qooker instant boiling water tap and bespoke joinery handmade in Cornwall. In addition to a wine cellar and secondary kitchen or utility room, the lower ground floor features a reception room equipped with a bio-ethanol-powered fireplace and a built-in audio and cinema system powered by a digital projector and Denon amplifier alongside five Sonos-operated surround-sound speakers. The first floor features two bedrooms with oak-lined wardrobes, including the primary bedroom with en-suite and bi-folding doors leading to a terrace with original outdoor staircase. The second floor includes the third bedroom and a separate storage space. Largely rebuilt after a bomb destroyed many of the buildings during World War II, Codrington Mews also has the distinction of housing the headquarters of XL, the UK’s largest independent record label. The building’s exterior walls have been painted to resemble record covers from The XX and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, two of the label’s clients.
