Helena Veloso Receives LIBOR’s Broker of the Year Award

Helena Veloso , Senior Executive Manager of Sales overseeing Douglas Elliman’s highly productive Franklin Square and Great Neck offices, recently received the Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) 2021 Broker of the Year Award at the Association’s annual Installation and Awards Ceremony, held virtually on December 2, 2021. Helena Veloso “Long Island Board of REALTORS® is proud to recognize Helena Veloso’s extensive industry experience and exceptional volunteer service with the 2021 REALTOR® Broker of the Year Award,” said LIBOR President Susan Helsinger. “Her boundless commitment to professionalism, education and mentoring continues to play a key role in moving our industry forward.” LIBOR, the fourth-largest local REALTOR® board in the U.S., established the Broker of the Year Award to honor REALTOR® Brokers who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and who serve as leaders in their local communities. It is considered one of the highest honors a LIBOR member can receive.Veloso has been working in the real estate industry for over thirty-five years. As a senior manager, she led Douglas Elliman’s Franklin Square office on Long Island to the No. 1 position in 2020 and continued the momentum throughout 2021. Over the years she has earned a reputation in the real estate community for her persistence, professionalism and ability to generate results. Her exceptional understanding of the business stems from her previous success as a former top-producing broker who first entered the industry in 1984. She is a vibrant, hands-on manager who is always striving to employ new and creative methods to stimulate agents and expand their business potential. “We’re thrilled for Helena to receive this well-deserved recognition,” said Ann Conroy, CEO of Elliman’s Long Island division. “Besides the great work Helena does at our local board and in the communities she serves, Helena wears many hats in our company and excels at each level. She is an invaluable senior manager and a great leader. Her team of titans reflect her prowess and continues to break all records for performance. It’s no wonder that she has achieved this coveted award, and we are all so very proud.” Veloso has been a member of LIBOR since 1988. Her association involvement includes serving as 2016 President of LIBOR’s Central Nassau Chapter, and as a Chapter Director for 17 years. Veloso also served on LIBOR’s Board of Directors and as a member of its Education, Grievance and Professional Standards committees. One of the key qualities that sets Veloso apart as a manager is her commitment to continuous learning. She makes it a priority to provide her agents with weekly meetings, extensive one-on-one in-office training and classes on the most up-to-date technologies that agents can adopt to grow their business. She offers a series of coaching and assistant management programs, as well. Fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish, Veloso believes in maintaining a diverse, multilingual office to better serve a broadly diverse community. “I am honored and humbled to receive this incredible award,” said Veloso. “I first got involved with LIBOR simply so that I would be able to lead my agents in the best direction possible. The organization is such a tremendous resource, and I feel that knowing the rules has allowed me to help my agents to achieve their goals. That, in turn, has helped me to achieve my own!
