Growing up in Monmouth County, New Jersey, Lauren LoSacco dreamed of starting and building her own business in New York City. LoSacco checked that box nearly 15 years ago when she began to offer her services as a high-end colorist, promptly building a clientele of celebrities and New York luminaries. Often requiring to her visit and work in her clients’ homes, that first business sparked an interest and eventually paved the way for her next venture, as a residential real estate agent.
“I developed a profound appreciation for the intricacies of buildings, decor, and design,” LoSacco said. “I referred one of my clients to a friend that was in the real estate industry, sparking a conversation that led me to explore sales as a supplemental income stream through referrals.”
Upon earning her license in 2022, she joined Douglas Elliman and went on to become the first agent enlisted for the newly formed Eleonora Srugo Team , after she and Srugo met in the summer of 2023 and collaborated on a deal in short order.
Just as LoSacco’s work as a colorist demands a sophisticated aesthetic sensibility and an aptitude for visualizing a desired end result on behalf of her clients, her work as an agent draws on those same skills when it comes to advising buyers and sellers on décor and renovation. And both roles call for extraordinary empathy.
“You have to put yourself in their shoes and be able to understand their perspective, emotions, and circumstances,” she said. “You can tell if people are coming from a positive or negative place through body language, and you can see what their comfort levels are. I have to be able to offset and absorb their stress and anxiety when, for instance, delivering a counteroffer.”
Ultimately, both beauty consultation and residential real estate are necessarily service-centered endeavors, which means the personalized, high-touch approach LoSacco perfected while working behind the chair is instantly applicable in her new career.
“The best advice I ever received from a mentor was, ‘Treat every client as if they are your only client,’” she said. “This philosophy has been my guiding principle throughout my career, ensuring that I provide personalized attention, care, and support to every individual that confides in me.”
