Douglas Elliman Races for $1 Million to Feed the Neediest

August 2019
Two of life’s basic necessities are food and shelter.
Douglas Elliman has been the go-to source for the latter for more than 100 years.
And for the past seven years Elliman has been tending to the former as well through a growing partnership with God’s Love We Deliver — a leading charitable organization providing nutritious, tailored meals for those too sick to cook for themselves throughout New York City, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey. In the past eight years Elliman has raised over $815,000 for God’s Love, primarily through an annual charity bike trek ‘Ride For Love’.

Crossing the $1 Million Mark
This year’s ‘Ride For Love’ goal of of $250,000 will put overall contributions at well over the million-dollar mark to date for God’s Love, translating into more than 100,000 home-cooked meals. To help reach that goal, an estimated 100 Elliman agents and staff will suit up for the seventh annual ‘Ride for Love’ — part of the Ride to Montauk — a 108-mile, 50-mile or 25-mile ride (depending on rider’s choice) that culminates on the eastern end of Long Island.
Bridget Harvey, founder of The Harvey Team at Douglas Elliman, will act as this year’s ride director, overseeing all volunteers, raised funds and logistics for the partnership between God’s Love and Elliman.
“Elliman agents are committed to giving back to the communities in which we serve and we are thankful that God’s Love We Deliver provides us such a powerful platform to do so throughout New York City and Long Island.”

“God’s Love was founded by Ganga Stone in 1985 when she set out to deliver meals, on her bike, to a man dying from AIDS in New York City,” explains Harvey. “The Ride for Love pays homage to the kindness and bravery of Ganga Stone, and it is an honor to take the reins and lead my friends and colleagues on this fantastic voyage.”
