Image Courtesy of Design Miami Elliman Insider: What are you most looking forward to in this year’s show? JENNIFER ROBERTS:  I am looking forward to seeing the incredible exhibitions that have embraced our curatorial theme for this edition, Elements: Water . LEXUS, ADO, Coral Morphologic, Lonely Whale, Swarovski, and Evian are only a few to name that have responded to this theme. I am also very excited for the solo show of work by Daniel Arsham at Friedman Benda. Arsham is a Miami-native! Nonprofit Lonely Whale’s response to Water : made from beach trash collected from Jamaica EI: Is there an up-and-coming artist you have your eye on? JR:  Fernando Laposse. He has designed the neighborhood commission for the Miami Design District, titled  Pink Beasts . There are hammocks to rest in amongst a collection of pink hairy sloths hung throughout the neighborhood. These can also be seen inside the tent at Design Miami. Pink Beasts by Fernando Laposse EI: What is the best Miami museum to visit this year? JR:   The ICA  or Wolfsonian for decorative arts. The ICA has an immersive, infinity room installation by Yayoi Kusama on display through January here in Miami, while The Wolfsonian is showcasing dozens of works by graphic artist Conrado Walter Massaguer, which helped shape the visual culture of Cuba between the 1920s and 1950s. EI:  Miami Beach is jam-packed with events during Art Basel week; where do you go to escape the madness for a minute? JR:  I would suggest exploring Sunset Harbor or South of 5 th  on Miami Beach. For those willing to go further afield, the neighborhood Coconut Grove boasts beautiful, serene destinations including Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and the Barnacle Historic State Park. EI: What’s the best place to get a late-night bite? JR:  Sweet Liberty . This is a local favorite, known for its great food and craft cocktails. Find your next home in Miami.
