Out of the Darkness and Into the Art: Aspen & Snowmass in the Winter
by GTS Admin
December 2018
Aspen is more than just the place for skiing. In fact, what better way to spend the cold winter months than by exploring how art and design fit into the community? These events and happenings highlight all the culture that Aspen and Snowmass have to offer, and what new changes are coming to Snowmass Base Village.
Art and Community
At the WheelerStallard Museum, you can learn how design has shaped Aspen and molded esthetic, cultural and philosophic values throughout. The “bayer & bauhaus: how design shaped aspen” exhibition will explain the impact of Herbert Bayer’s contributions to Aspen. It’s open this December through spring 2019.
The Anderson Ranch Arts Center hosts a Holiday Open House . This evening of festivity welcomes everyone to participate in free studio tours, crafts, a trunk show and a holiday dinner (reservations required). Don’t forget to stop by the Hot Chocolate Bar that is presented in the adorable Bitsy Caravan. December 18th.
New Developments
The Snowmass Base Village grand opening celebrates the newest addition of a hotel, residences, restaurants and amenities to Aspen Snowmass. With music throughout the evening concluding in a fireworks finale along with plenty of chances to skate and brunch, this event is a great way to engage in the community and celebrate the newest additions to Snowmass beginning December 15th.
Holiday Performances
Hear the inspiring holiday classic, Handel’s Messiah , performed by the Aspen Choral Society , at the Wheeler Opera House this winter. For even more seasonal performances, check out Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, also at the Opera House. Experience the performances on December 15th and December 21st.
