Art Basel Miami Beach: Go Inside with Susan de França

This week Douglas Elliman celebrates its 7th year as a show partner at  Art Basel Miami Beach one of the world’s most illustrious art shows. With that, Elliman Insider will interview three Art Basel stars to get the inside guide to the best Miami has to offer. First up,  Susan de França , President and CEO of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, on what she loves about the show and what tradition she can’t miss every year. Elliman Insider : How do art and real estate, specifically new developments, complement one another? SUSAN de FRANÇA : New developments offer a blank canvas for an owner to adorn their homes with coveted artworks and collectible furniture. Many of our developer clients and homeowners are avid art collectors so it makes perfect sense for us to present our extraordinary global portfolio at Art Basel Miami.   EI: You market several developments currently under way in Miami Beach. What’s one development you’re most excited about this Art Basel? EI: This is your 7 th   Art Basel – Is there one thing you never miss each show? SDF: Sharing an annual celebratory lunch at Casa Tua with Pablo Alfaro and Dennis Mangone , my friendscolleagues who helped start this partnership seven years ago. EI: If you could have a piece of art from any artist in your home who would it be? SDF: One of the things I love about Art Basel is learning about new artists. For example, one of my favorite pieces is an Andy Woll painting I acquired several years back. Mt. Wilson (White Out VIII)  2016 EI: It can get little frantic during Art Basel, what’s you’re Art Basel escape?
