Far Out West: Texas Agents Megan Gallagher and Emily Waldmann Prepare for Launch of Sunday Homes at El Cosmico

February 2024

By Grace Cassidy Before they decided to get into the residential real estate business in Texas, Megan Gallagher and Emily Waldmann met while working in the adjacent field of hospitality. Working in sales and events for Bunkhouse Hotels, the innovative Austin-based company founded by creative visionary Liz Lambert, the two honed many of the skills they would draw upon years later, as agents: comfort with budgets and timelines, keen eyes for detail and the ability to help clients navigate major decisions and moments in their lives. Although Gallagher and Waldmann both decided to leave hospitality and launch their real estate careers in 2020, they didn’t work together initially. “We both worked for different teams and got a ton of experience,” Waldmann said. “We’d always get together and talk shop, but we didn’t know we’d work together.” They joined forces in 2021, became a part of Douglas Elliman in 2022 and celebrated 2023 as their best year in real estate.  Recently, the two were named Platinum Top 50 Semi-Finalists for 2024 and winners of the 2024 Austin Business Journal’s Residential Real Estate awards . Now, their newest project in Far West Texas has brought them back to their hospitality roots and put them back in business with Lambert. The two are the exclusive listing agents for Sunday Homes at El Cosmico , a new venture between the Lambert-owned El Cosmico hotel in Marfa, Texas, the architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group and the 3D-printing company ICON . A collection of 37 new 3D-printed homes, ranging from 1,589 to 2,575 square feet, Sunday Homes currently have a starting price in the high $900,000s. The retro futuristic designs offer two-, three- and four-bedroom residences, each with views of the Davis Mountains and endless opportunities for stargazing in the Chihuahuan Desert. Planned amenities include a circular infinity pool and bathhouse, restaurant, working garden and art-making facilities. Renderings of Sunday Homes at El Cosmico.
