When I began my career in 1978, the real estate business was very different. Listings were on 3 x 5 index cards. There were no computers, cell phones, email or voicemail. As I think back, it is amazing that brokers we ever able to find the right property for our buyers. Real estate companies also did not share their listings so every company had different apartments listed.
Fast forward to 2016. Finding the right home is so much easier and more efficient now. High quality pictures and floorplans give today's buyers the advantage of doing their preliminary search from the comfort of their homes. It is still necessary to actually go out and see the properties, but it is a lot easier to screen which ones are suitable.
In April of 2016 I sold my beloved New York apartment and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I am extremely happy here. I am now licensed both in New York and Florida. I am still actively doing business in New York with the help of my colleague Mary Anne Cotter. We have successfully been doing sales and rentals in Manhattan since my move to Florida.
My new life in Florida has been a dream come true. I was never a fan of bitter Northeastern winters, particularly after falling and fracturing my kneecap in February of 2015.
