SETAUKET
The historic hamlet of Setauket inspired the AMC series TURN: Washington's Spies, which is about the Culper spy ring that operated here during the American Revolution. Many structures from that era remain in the Old Setauket Historic District, which includes the village green, site of the Battle of Setauket. Some historic buildings are situated in 24-acre Frank Melville Memorial Park, which includes walking trails, benches, and a pond. In the first half of the 1900s, well-to-do families built homes near Setauket’s waterfront, and newer homes were added to the mix when development accelerated in the second half of the century. Mostly residential, Setauket has pockets of commercial areas.
