The "Mill House", built in 1860 is sited on a hill overlooking the town of Chester and a string of waterfalls that once powered the mill and continues through the town square. The Mill House itself is a handsome example of period New England colonials of the era. Dating to colonial times, Chester was founded alongside the Connecticut River around 1672. Today the central square is a hub for an energetic collaborative of artisan boutiques, art studios and haberdasheries. You'll find award winning restaurants of all types...seemingly around every corner. The Norma Terrace Goodspeed Theatre offers both classic favorites and off Broadway productions much of the year 'round. During seasonal Sundays, the central square is closed off for the famous Chester Farmers Market, featuring local farm to table purveyors, outdoor dining and even live music. It's no wonder Chester attracts visitors from all over the state and beyond. From the house on the hill, all this lies practically at your doorstep. The residence itself enlarged 1983, has been given a recent facelift, restoring the classic facade to its historic patina.
