Agents Who Boat: Life on the Water
by Elliman Editors
October 2021
There are all manner of reasons people take to the water. Some for the speed and open space, some for the sheer relaxation.
In honor of the 64th annual Fort Lauderdale Boat Show returning to South Florida this week with Douglas Elliman as the premiere real estate sponsor , Elliman Insider caught up with a few of our boat-loving agents to find out what draws them to life on the water.

“Life on the water has been the focal point of my life since I was very young. Growing up fishing, surfing, and boating, have always been my passions since a very young age and I feel fortunate that I was raised close to beach and water access.
Passing along my lifestyle to my children brings me the most joy, from their surf contests to seeing my son catch his first lobster and shoot his first snapper, our families lives and memories have been created around the water lifestyle.”

“I grew up on the water on Long Island. Some of my fondest memories as a child revolve around boating and fishing with my father. I’ve always been a big fan of the water, but not so much the beach, so every opportunity I have, I love to be on a boat.
For years, I had the very best boat….somebody else’s! I finally decided it was time to buy my own boat last year, the aptly named ‘Knot For Sale.'”

“I may sound corny, but sailing has always been an outlet for me. From growing up racing in very serious competitions around the world, to more easy going regattas (note the picture!), all levels of the sport seem to provide that outlet for me.
I have also now seen the cruising side of sailing and the value in simply being out on the water. My day-to-day involves cars, houses, closed-in environments, so the ability to see for miles and not be near anyone naturally gives a dramatic change in my day. I have never been able to truly unwind with yoga, meditation, or really anything else. My brain requires a different environment to slow down, and being on the water immediately gives that to me. Regardless of what you are doing out there, I highly recommend it!”
