The Washington D.C. property that houses the  National Italian American Foundation has hit the market for the first time in three decades. Located at 1860 19th Street NW , in the Dupont Circle Historic District, the meticulously preserved building has been listed for $3,999,999 through Douglas Elliman agents Lyndsi Armenio and Matthew Windsor . Officially known as the Ambassador Peter F. Secchia Building, after the U.S. envoy to Italy from 1989 to 1993, the 7,800-square-feet building is more than a century old and still features original details, including parquet floors, a grand staircase and gold-painted moldings. Although the main floor has served as exhibition space and the bedrooms on the upper floors have been converted into office spaces, the property can be restored to its original residential splendor. “It’s very possible it could sell to a company, a corporation or a country,” Windsor told Mansion Global . “But we do think it has a lot of potential to be an end user residential property.”
