Why I Ride: Supporting Elliman’s 8th Annual Ride For Love

On Saturday, September 26th over 70 agents and employees from Douglas Elliman will take to their bikes as part of the 8th Annual Ride For Love benefiting God’s Love We Deliver . Over the past seven years Douglas Elliman agents have biked thousands of miles and raised over $1,000,000 for God’s Love and their mission to serve tailored, nutritional meals to those who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. $1,000,000 translates into about 100,000 home-cooked meals for those in need throughout the New York metro area. So far this year’s team has raised over $100,000 toward a goal of $200,000. Donations can be accepted up to and after the ride . Elliman Insider caught up with a few of those participating in this year’s event   – Randall Dolland , Jessilyn Chen , Jessica Svensson and Bridget Harvey – to find out why they are riding and why giving back is more important now than ever. Why I Ride Randall Dolland I ride because our city was once the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic. My heart breaks when I pass extremely long lines of people waiting for food donations. I think of those who are too sick or unable to stand on those long lines. I ride for them! I’m doubling my miles this year for them! I raise money for them! I was introduced to God’s Love We Deliver through Douglas Elliman. Their mission to cook and deliver nutritious meals to New Yorkers in need is a noble one. I’m grateful to have the physical ability to bring attention to, and to raise funds for this worthy cause. Support Randall’s Ride Jessilyn Chen I ride because I   want to challenge myself as a testament to a charity that I feel truly helps those in need. I started volunteering at a nonprofit organization in Manhattan to deliver food for the elderly every first Saturday of the month for 5 years. I love and enjoy the act of supporting the communities. Three years ago I barely knew how to ride a bike and I heard about Elliman’s Ride For Love for God’s Love We Deliver and I signed up but ended up not being able to ride. So this year I am back at it again. Support Jessilyn’s Ride Jessica Svensson I ride to feed people who can’t provide and prepare meals for themselves. No one should go hungry! Every single day God’s Love We Deliver cooks and delivers more than 11,000 medically-tailored meals to people that are too sick to grocery shop or cook for themselves. God’s Love We Deliver, and their clients, have always held a special place in my heart. Since the pandemic began, they have gone above and beyond to serve our neighbors that absolutely cannot leave their homes to grocery shop. Most of God’s Love’s clients have four or more life-altering illnesses, meaning they cannot do any of those things, they cannot leave their homes with confidence so they need us now meow than ever.
