Our Agents’ Guide to the Best of Wintersköl

Originally started as a celebration of Aspen’s unique Nordic lifestyle, Wintersköl (January 10th-13th, 2019) has become the go-to event as the new year kicks off and winter continues. Read more to find out our agents’ top recommendations for how to get the most out of the weekend festivities. Between canine fashion shows, fireworks and honoring a town that gives back, the weekend is full of different events to choose from. Thursday, January 10th: Aspen Chamber Resort Association’s Helen K. Klanderud WINTERSKÖL Awards Luncheon, 12pm Carlie Umbarger said that her favorite party is this annual gala. The Aspen Chamber honors those in the community in philanthropy, awards the best business of the year and honors the 2019 Wintersköl Royal Honorees. Umbarger said this event gives her the “warm and fuzzies,” as Aspen is a small town that knows not only how to work and play hard, but how to give back to the community. Anderson Ranch Arts Center’s WinterSculpt, 3pm Marian Lansburgh had two words: ice sculptures. Grab your fellow community members and work together to transform an 8’ square foot snow cube into a freestanding sculpture. This event goes for 48 hours and continues on into Friday. Friday, January 11th: KIDSCULPT, 9am For those who have budding sculptors in their family, Kidsculpt is the perfect event for kids looking to create a masterpiece. Middle schools across the Roaring Fork Valley gather teams to compete in working with 4′ square foot snow cubes. In the tradition of giving back, each school receives a $75 stipend for art supplies. The competition is judged by a panel of community members. Saturday, January 12th: Canine Fashion Show, 1pm Agents Melanie Muss, Joshua Landis and Nancy Patton all agree that the pet fashion show is not to be missed! Part of the WinterFest ,  this event is free to participate but requires registration. After you’ve had some fun watching man’s best friend get dressed up,  stick around for the US Air Force Academy Drum & Bugle Corps & The El Jebel Shrine Pipe Band at   2pm. Torchlight Descent & Wintersköl Fireworks Extravaganza, 8pm Jill Shore and Melanie Muss love watching the fireworks after nightfall. A great way to end a busy day full of winter activities, the Fireworks Extravaganza is the highlight of the Wintersköl weekend. Sunday, January 13th: Circle of Friends Wintersköl BINGO for All Ages, 12pm. The Pitkin County Library hosts this free event for different generations to come together and play bingo, not without with prizes and pizza. Find your next home in Aspen.
