Douglas Elliman Celebrates Equine Connection at Houston Polo Club

When Douglas Elliman presented the USPA H. Ben Taub Memorial Cup to Brookshire Polo after the team defeated rival San Saba 7-5 at Houston Polo Club (HPC) in late September, it was only the latest example of the luxury real estate brokerage’s longstanding commitment to supporting and celebrating the culture and lifestyle of equine sports.

In addition to being a premier brokerage of prime equestrian properties across New York, Florida, California, Texas, Colorado, and other key U.S. markets, Douglas Elliman has long been an active participant in the equine world, whether as a sponsor of such top-tier competitions as the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) and the Hampton Classic or as publisher of the biannual Equestrian magazine.

September’s H. Ben Taub Memorial Final match at HPC exemplified that equine culture and lifestyle, inviting the smartly-dressed spectators and guests to enjoy a day of live music, food and drinks from Houston’s Latin-Mediterranean restaurant The Lymbar, a halftime champagne divot stomp and culminating trophy presentation.

The recent 2026 edition of HPC’s Houston Polo Magazine highlighted Elliman’s “equine connection,” which Stephen Larkin, Executive Vice President & Chief Communications Officer at Douglas Elliman, says is a reflection of its agents’ own passions and lifestyles.

“They live in the community. They own equestrian farms. They compete in the Hampton Classic or the Winter Equestrian Festival,” Larkin explained. “So, we understand our clients—our buyers and sellers—because our agents are a part of their communities. And who better to buy a very specialized property from than somebody who understands the life? Because we’re not just selling properties; we understand the labor and lifestyle that go with them.”

Indeed, Elliman agent Cindy Case helped to expand the brokerage’s support for the equine community to Houston. After attending a Sunday match, Case took the HPC’s two-hour introductory course before enrolling in an eight-week program at the Polo School and eventually becoming a polo player herself. Thanks to her involvement, Elliman has been an HPC sponsor since 2024.

As Case told Houston Polo Magazine, taking up polo has made a meaningful impact on her personal and professional life.

“At that introductory class, I met a handful of women who were all on the fence about joining. After that lesson, we all ended up joining together and have since become great friends,” she said, adding that the sport is far more accessible than many people realize. “I have played with men and women, ages 11 to 76. You don’t need riding experience, and age doesn’t matter; you can play polo.”
