When Anne Incorvia says that Douglas Elliman’s Relocation & Referral Team will do “whatever it takes” to ensure their clients have a positive relocation and settling-in experience, she absolutely means it—even if that requires enlisting the help of an Olympic Gold Medalist.
“I had a transferee whose wife was an elite swimmer and would not move unless she was able to continue her training for the Olympics,” said Incorvia, who is Elliman’s Senior Vice President, Global Relocation & Referral Services. “So, I had to call a former gold Olympian and ask him to recommend a trainer. That's what I'm talking about: when we offer white-glove service, we go above and beyond.”
As a full-service real estate brokerage firm with a team of certified relocation professionals, Douglas Elliman offers organizations and individuals, from Fortune 500 companies to professional athletes, a single-source solution for domestic and international assignments. With its network of more than 6,000 agents in key markets across the U.S., the brokerage has expert real estate professionals on the ground in critical corporate hubs and industry locations, including finance, healthcare, technology and defense. And with the launch of its new global division, Elliman has recently expanded into Canada, France and Monaco, with more markets and countries on the way.
For Incorvia, a Global Mobility Specialist (GMS) and Senior Global Destination Specialist (SGDS) with more than 40 years of experience, Elliman’s combination of luxury brokerage and relocation services is a critical point of distinction from other Destination Services Providers (DSP). Being housed within a brokerage, she explains, enables her team to provide more comprehensive assistance than other DSPs.
“We have real estate agents who are certified as relocation specialists, and we also have dedicated relocation staff, including settling-in consultants,” she said. “They work together as a team to provide a broader range of services than they could independently.”
Settling-in consultants can step in to assist clients with children in finding communities that fit their family-oriented criteria. They also have unique expertise in helping relocation clients to navigate the myriad details and bureaucratic hoops involved with settling into life in a new place, such as drivers’ licenses, Social Security numbers, school registration and even lifecycle events.
Incorvia’s colleague Francesca Ferraiolo exemplifies the commitment to going above and beyond that drives Elliman’s settling-in consultants. As Director of Destination Services and Manager of Broker Referrals, Ferraiolo has redefined the standard for relocation support. She believes that providing basic necessities, such as opening a bank account, securing a driver's license or managing administrative paperwork, is merely the baseline of a successful transition.
Ferraiolo makes it a priority to ensure that every client knows her team is available for any challenge, no matter how unusual, to ensure a truly smooth transition. This level of advocacy has seen her team handle everything from the deeply personal to the highly complex, including standing as a legal witness for a wedding at City Hall, negotiating the private sale of a vehicle and managing the intricate details of lease terminations.
Such a high-touch approach provides more than just comfort; it delivers substantial financial protection that can save clients tens of thousands of dollars by avoiding costly pitfalls and securing better terms. One of the highest compliments Ferraiolo has received came from a transferee who had moved globally over half a dozen times. While he had received great service in the past, he told her, it never compared to the personal care and unwavering advocacy that she and her team provided.
For Ferraiolo, the paperwork is the requirement, but the human connection and the commitment to a seamless transition are the true mission. And having emigrated to the U.S. when she was seven years old, she approaches the work of relocation services as a kind of personal calling.
“When my parents came, they didn't get the help they needed, whether it was childcare or schooling assistance or helping them with an apartment,” she recalled. “I remember being young and doing that for my family.”
Incorvia echoed that sentiment, emphasizing that the relationship, not the transaction, is the true reward of relocation.
“Fran and I love what we do,” she said. “It's not a job; it's a passion, and I think that’s reflected in our base of clients that keep coming back.”
It’s all part of what truly elevates Elliman’s relocation services, Incorvia adds—a singular approach to luxury that has defined the brand for 115 years.
“Douglas Elliman is known for luxury service,” she said. “It's not strictly based on a price point. Luxury is an experience.”
