Valhalla Real Estate

Picture of Valhalla

The hamlet of Valhalla, NY, in the town of Mount Pleasant is well-situated in the center of Westchester County. This ideal location affords residents convenient access to nearby parks, restaurants, and shopping. It's a commuter's dream, accessible to both Northern and Southern Westchester via a number of highways and main roads. Just 45 minutes from Manhattan, it's an easy commute for those who work in the city or just love to visit.

Named for the Richard Wagner opera, Der Ring des Nibelungen, Valhalla is home to the Mount Pleasant Town Hall, the Mount Pleasant Town Pool and Community Center, the Summit at Westchester (a 1.3 million square foot office park), the Westchester Medical Center and Westchester Community College. Valhalla's "downtown" remains small. Well-kept neighborhood streets are home to split levels, raised ranches and Cape Cods in keeping with the county's suburban feel. The Kensico Dam Plaza offers 98 acres of parkland with the stunning, dramatic backdrop of a 300 foot high stone dam. This park is a favorite among hikers, bikers, and picnickers, and is often the site of ethnic festivals, concerts, and outdoor movies.

The Mount Pleasant Recreation and Parks Department oversees a wide variety of recreation programs and facilities for the arts, sports, aquatics, special events and social activities. A focal point for activities is the Mount Pleasant Community Center and Town Pool Complex. The department is also responsible for the maintenance of 14 town parks.

With New York City and Long Island Sound to the south, Putnam County on the north and Connecticut to the east, Westchester County holds the distinction of being the world's first large-scale suburb. Major interstate highways constructed during the 1950s and '60s and the construction of the Tappan Zee Bridge encouraged major corporations to build their headquarters here. A sweet spot for commuters traveling by car or by the Metro-North Commuter Railroad, today's Westchester is one of the nation's most affluent counties and the location of many of New York City's most desirable suburban communities.
