In 1948, in an unincorporated area of Pleasantville off Bear Ridge Road, students of architect Frank Lloyd Wright began building homes in their mentor's modernist, open-plan style. The residential enclave, known as Usonia Homes, includes 50 houses over 100 acres of wooded hillside and includes two houses designed by Wright himself. Architecture students and fans of Wright's designs consider the development an important collection of some of the 20th century's finest modern architecture.
