Bronxville Real Estate

Picture of Bronxville

The Westchester County village of Bronxville, NY, in the town of Eastchester, lies about 15 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. Surrounded by New Rochelle to the east, the Bronx River Parkway and Yonkers to the west, Tuckahoe and Eastchester to the north and Mount Vernon to the south, the tiny village covers only one square mile, with a population of just over 6,200. Bronxville, like many of its neighbors, is known for its affluence, but also for its community pride and picturesque small-town charm.

Bronxville's tree-lined downtown district along Pondfield Road and Kraft Avenue is the heart of this model suburban community. You'll find small, independent boutiques, a bookstore, restaurants and cafes and a triplex movie theater. Four Corners Square, a group of civic buildings, is here as well. Though there are some apartments, neighborhood streets are more likely to be lined with stately Tudor, Colonial and Victorian homes.

The Bronxville public school system is ranked among the country's best. Bronxville is also home to Concordia College, and Sarah Lawrence College is nearby in Yonkers. The village boasts more than 70 acres of park land, including athletic fields and woodlands. The Bronx River Parkway Reservation, Westchester's oldest park and the first linear park in the U.S., is a favorite for biking, walking, jogging and nature study.

Bronxville is about 16 miles from Midtown Manhattan, a 28 minute trip from the Bronxville station on the Metro-North Railroad Harlem Line.

With New York City and Long Island Sound to the south, Putnam County to the north and Connecticut to the east, Westchester County holds the distinction of being the world's first large-scale suburb. Major interstate highways constructed during the 1950s and 1960s and the construction of the Tappan Zee Bridge encouraged major corporations to build their headquarters here. A sweet spot for commuters traveling by car or by the Metro-North Commuter Railroad, today's Westchester is one of the nation's most affluent counties and the location of many of New York City's most desirable suburban communities.
