AREW boosts its ranks with 38 new members

Thirty-eight new members joined the Association of Real Estate Women (AREW) for the 2006-07 year so far, representing a broad spectrum of women and men who are prominent in all facets of the real es tate industry, including residential and commercial brokers, appraisers, real estate attorneys, develop ers, architects and title search agents.

"AREW is delighted to welcome so many influen tial new members on board," said Anne Teshima, president of AREW. "We look forward to seeing the many new faces at our functions, and know each new person has something significant to bring to the table."

AREW, founded in 1978, is an organization of successful women and men who have risen to the top echelons of the real estate industry. The organi zation offers networking opportunities that can con tribute to the career growth of members.

Frequent events feature panel discussions and expert speakers on a myriad of real estate-related topics, such as eminent domain, affordable housing, real estate marketing and powerful women in real estate.

AREW also offers its members the option to vol unteer for philanthropic causes, such as AREW's Charitable Fund, a non-profit affiliation established to help raise funds for, mentor and support women in need.

The next monthly luncheon, "Long Island City There is Life After MoMA," will be held on Tuesday, March 6th from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Club 101 on Park Avenue. The luncheon will feature a panel of four expert guest speakers, including: David A. Brause, President of Brause Realty Inc.; John Lewis, Vice President and General Counsel, Assis tant Secretary of the Board and Ethics Officer of the United States Federal Credit Union; Faith Hope Console, Chairman of the Retail Leasing and Sales Division for Prudential Douglas Elliman; and Gary Kesner, Executive Vice President of Silvercup Stu dios.

The panel will be moderated by Gayle Baron, President of the Long Island City Business Develop ment Corporation. There is no charge for AREW members.
