Thirty-Year Industry Veteran to RetainCOO Title as Brokerage Continues National Expansion Efforts

New York, NY (December4, 2017) Douglas Elliman,the fourth largest residential real estate brokerage company in the UnitedStates, announced today that it has promoted its chief operating officer, ScottDurkin, to president and chief operating officer, effective immediately. Mr.Durkin joined Douglas Elliman in 2015 as executive vice president ofacquisitions and growth. He was promoted to chief operating officer in October2017. With his new title, Mr. Durkin will continue to lead the brokerage, itsoperations and strategic growth efforts across the United States.

Mr. Durkin wasinstrumental in the recently announced partnership with StreetEasy and Zillowto develop an exclusive listing entry platform as well as the leading voice insupporting the real estate aggregator’s new Premiere Agent and rental pricingplatforms which have resulted in greater lead generation for DouglasElliman.  He also helped oversee expansion efforts in New York, SouthFlorida, California and Massachusetts as well as the successful re-structuringof operations in Westchester, Connecticut and the Hamptons. Mr. Durkin is alsoresponsible for a more streamlined, efficient, creative and productiveoperations team that includes sales, technology, marketing, legal, accounting,public relations, human resources and facilities.

Since beginninghis career as a sales agent with the Corcoran Group in 1991, Mr. Durkin grewhis reputation, becoming a protégé of Barbara Corcoran and working directlyalongside her for many years. He was directly involved in many majormilestones, including the sale of the company to NRT and the acquisition ofbrokerages in the Hamptons, Palm Beach and New York. During his tenure atCorcoran, Mr. Durkin also held several corporate positions including chiefoperating officer and senior managing director of the Chelsea-Flatiron office,which ranked in the top 10 nationwide of all Realogy companies during the 11years of his leadership. 

An avidequestrian with a passion for the dressage style of riding, Mr. Durkin and hishusband live between Manhattan and upstate New York.
