Douglas Elliman Rapidly Expands Brooklyn Presence Via Acquisition, Leases and Recruitment

New York’s Largest Residential Brokerage Continues its Expansion with Acquisition ofBrooklyn Hearth Realty; Two New Office Locations in Williamsburg andBedford-Stuyvesant and More than 50 New Agents

New York City, NY (June22, 2017) – Douglas Elliman expands company’spresence in Brooklyn with the acquisition of Brooklyn Hearth Realty, a highly respected firm founded in 2004 with offices in NorthSlope and Ditmas Park, and the addition of new offices in Williamsburg andBedford-Stuyvesant later this year.  Withthis expansion, Douglas Elliman brings its office count to 90 nationally,adding approximately 20 percent more agents to the firm for a total of morethan 300 agents in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Hearth Realtywas instrumental in the growing popularity amongst home buyers, sellers andinvestors in Ditmas Park, Windsor Terrace and sections of Park Slope over thepast decade. All eight employees, including its three founding partners, RebekahCarver, Jan Rosenberg and DeAnna Lenhart, will join Douglas Elliman and willcontinue to work from their locations at 207 Cortelyou Road in Ditmas Park and 43Fifth Avenue in Park Slope, which will now be branded as Douglas Ellimanlocations.

DouglasElliman’s other new Brooklyn offices will open in Bedford-Stuyvesant at 308Malcolm X Boulevard in August, and in Williamsburg at 280 Metropolitan Avenuein November.

As part of a continuinggrowth strategy aimed at representing and serving the needs of clients, theacquisition and expansion will add dynamic new communities to Douglas Elliman’snational network of more than 6,500 professionals across 90 offices nationwide.

Beginning in 2004, BrooklynHearth helped ignite the once dormant co-op market in Ditmas Park and attractednew inhabitants by putting urban research about local Brooklyn neighborhoodsinto action. Rosenberg, a sociologist and former professor at Long Island University inBrooklyn, started the firm after she, along with others in the community, realizedthe neighborhood needed more vitality and new residents. She began a new careeras a broker by starting Brooklyn Hearth and soon afterwards, Lenhart and Carverbecame involved with the business and became her partners in 2007. “After overa decade of rolling up our sleeves and growing the real estate transactions —both residential and commercial in Ditmas Park and Kensington — we're ready fora larger platform and support in which to do the work we love,” said Rosenberg,along with, Carver and Lenhart.
