The 137 Waverly Place office opened in 1978 as a tiny boutique firm specializing in townhouse sales here in the West Village. Expanding in subsequent decades into the garden floor and the entire upper three levels of the former residence of Edgar Allan Poe, this unique workplace became part of Douglas Elliman in 1998 and has flourished ever since.

Today, the agents at Waverly Place specialize in selling high-end listings; a few of our more well-known agents have established reputations for selling townhouses and spacious luxury apartments. Waverly Place has agents that speak French, Italian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Fuzhou, German, Hebrew, Spanish, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Russian and Serbo-Croatian in addition to English.

Our office culture is one of a small boutique office focused more on camaraderie and success than of corporate hierarchy—our agents work closely together to solve problems and sell homes. Education is also a key component to life at Waverly Place. Each Thursday agents are offered complimentary access to “Higher Education Thursday” where they are taught essential skills like how to do a listing presentation on a iPad, how to properly qualify a buyer, how to pick up buyers at an open house and many more. In a nutshell, Waverly Place offers its agents the best of both worlds. We are a boutique office with a calm and productive atmosphere while at the same time offering the capabilities, agents services and marketing firepower of a the largest and most successful real estate company in New York.
