Upper West Side

Stretching from 59th Street to about 110th Street, from Central Park to the Hudson River, the Upper West Side has long been considered an intellectual and cultural hub of the city. Columbia University, Barnard College, and the Julliard School are just three of the institutions whose students and staff cross paths with the actors, dancers, and musicians performing at Lincoln Center. Decidedly less stuffy than its east side counterpart, the area attracts residents who can choose from historic buildings on the park to newer developments on Riverside Drive and the western environs. In between they'll find a multitude of hidden gems, including a park with over 2,000 cherry trees gifted from Japan.
