Hudson Heights

Neighborhood Guide

A gem of a neighborhood perched on a high bluff overlooking the Hudson River, with a bevy of stately prewar buildings spanning a range of historical styles, from Art Deco to Tudor, and a unique claim to fame: It’s got the highest point on the island, in Bennett Park, where George Washington camped during the Revolutionary War. Fort Tryon Park has the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection of medieval art in The Cloisters, and the famous red Lighthouse is nestled just south, near the George Washington Bridge. There’s just the right number of local eateries and cafés for a neighborhood that feels like it’s not in the city, but for those who need regular access, it’s just 20 minutes to Midtown on the express train.
