Born and raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, I summered every year on the North Fork since the age of two or three. I became a permanent resident in 1971, after receiving my BA in History from the University of Detroit and fulfilling my ROTC commitment as a Captain the U.S. Army Transportation Corps.
I was licensed as a Real Estate Sales Associate in 1972 and as a Real Estate Broker in 1977. Since 1972, I have been associated with four North Fork agencies including Celic Estate Agents (Celic Realty), staying through the sale to what was Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate in the Fall of 2003. With Prudential's decision to return to their core financial and insurance business, we became Douglas Elliman Real Estate and then Douglas Elliman Real Estate after acquiring that famous name..
Active in the Community, I served as President of the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce in 1987/1988, and as President of the Mattituck Community Fund in 2001/2002 and again in 2006/2007. I've been elected to serve as a Trustee of the Mattituck-Laurel Library for two three year terms, 2008-2013, was appointed to fill a vacancy for 2017-2020 term, and have just been elected again to serve for 2021-2023 term. A member ` of the Mattituck Lions Club since 1977, I've held various positions on the Board of Directors, including chairman of the Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival. I had the privilege to serve as President in 1985/1986, and Lions International honored twice as me as a Melvin Jones Fellow. I am currently the Treasurer of the Strawberry Festival.
Married to Mattituck native, Ellen Barker, we live in Mattituck with our son, Peter Robert.
