Karen Newhouse: a name born for the career of real estate. However, in actuality, Karen came to the field after a career as an educator. Perhaps surprisingly, teaching skills are vital to the career of a sales broker. For over three decades as broker and sales manager, Karen has been educating both buyers and sellers every single day. Buyers and sellers want to be educated about the community, about property values and about market trends. Likewise, Karen transfers her passion for the industry, and for the people it serves, to all the sales associates in her office, who she describes as professional, dedicated and multi-talented.
Karen knows Long Island. She grew up on the Island and, together with her family, has lived in Port Washington for over 30 years. She has also lived in other communities and has traveled extensively and understands differences between communities as well as the sometimes challenging task of relocating. Karen’s two daughters and one of her sons in-law have been educated in the Port Washington School system, of which Karen is a strong proponent. It was the schools, the beautiful waterfront and the proximity to New York City (just 17 miles east of Manhattan and 36 minutes by rail to Penn Station) that originally drew Karen and her husband to Port Washington. But, as they became entrenched in the neighborhood, they learned to appreciate the "small town" yet vibrant feeling of this community.
That same "small town" feeling and vibrancy can be found in the Douglas Elliman Port Washington office, which is backed by the sophistication and strength of the entire Douglas Elliman network, with over 60 offices in the Metropolitan area, providing the ideal business environment for buyers, sellers, and brokers alike.
Karen was awarded The Above and Beyond Leadership Award by Douglas Elliman Management, and her office was the recipient of the TOLI Award (Top Of Long Island) multiple times.
