As someone who has successfully weathered the storms and natural ebb and flow of the marketplace, Paul has an unparalleled understanding of Hamptons’ real estate. Known for being a discreet and skilled negotiator, he has particular expertise in listing and selling large oceanfront and estate properties.
Career highlights include brokering the Scuttle Hole Road property in Bridgehampton that became the Atlantic Golf Course, and the sale of Eothen, Paul Morrissey’s oceanfront estate in Montauk that was once owned by pop artist Andy Warhol and the Estate of Juan Trippe on West End Ave in East Hampton Village.
The son of a Bridgehampton potato farmer, Paul can trace his ancestry back to the founding of Southampton in 1640. Although he attended Assumption College in Massachusetts and ventured to Australia to play professional basketball with the Bankstown Bruins for two seasons—Paul has spent most of his life living and working in his beloved hometown.
Mentored by the late great real estate broker Allan Schneider, Paul worked with Allan Schneider Associates until co-founding the firm of Braverman Newbold Brennan, which was later sold to Sotheby’s International Real Estate. In 1999, Paul fortuitously met Dottie Herman, president and CEO of Douglas Elliman. Inspired by Dottie’s business savvy and vision, he joined DE and has been instrumental in growing the company’s reach on the East End from one small office over an antiques shop to ten thriving offices on the North and South forks.
An ardent proponent of land preservation, Paul was instrumental in establishing the Peconic Bay Region Community Preservation Fund in 1999, which has since saved more than 10,000 acres of land from overdevelopment under the guise of progress. Although it may seem counterintuitive for a realtor to want to limit future growth, Paul believes his clients’ real estate values will strongly benefit from the East End maintaining its unique character and natural beauty.
A member of the Long Island Board of Realtors and the New York Association of Realtors, Paul is also a trustee of the Bridgehampton Historical Society and The Nature Conservancy, and serves on the board of the Southampton Hospital Foundation.
