Rego Park Real Estate

Picture of Rego Park

From the extravagant mansions of Forest Hills Gardens to the shops and modest co-ops of Austin Street, the central Queens neighborhood of Forest Hills offers nearly every vision of comfortable living, including an easy commute to Manhattan. It is one of the safest neighborhoods in Queens, and it boasts one of the best public school districts in all of New York City.

Just north of Forest Hills, Rego Park was named for the first two letters of the Real Good Construction Company, which developed the area in the mid-1920s. In addition to the area's many apartment buildings and multi-family houses, a section of Rego Park known as the Crescents—because of its semicircular streets—contains many colonial and Tudor style homes with slate roofs.

Along Queens Boulevard lies one of the borough's most popular shopping destinations, including the Rego Park Center with a large Sears, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshalls and Old Navy stores. Across from Rego Park Center is another shopping center with Kohl's, a Century 21, a Costco, a T.J. Maxx and more. Smaller stores, bakeries, pharmacies and restaurants can be found along 108th Street and 63rd Drive. Rego Park is home to one of American television's most unforgettable characters, Archie Bunker from the 1970s sitcom All in the Family. The house shown in the show's credits is located at 89-70 Cooper Avenue in Rego Park. There is easy access to Manhattan via the E, G, R and V lines of the New York City subway system, all of which stop at the 63rd Drive and Queens Boulevard station.

The neighborhood's commercial center is on Lefferts Boulevard between Austin Street and Metropolitan Avenue, where you'll find Kew Gardens Cinemas screening a selection of independent international films plus a diverse collection of restaurants and shops. Pilots and flight attendants who stay in Kew Gardens in between John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport flights——the neighborhood is sometimes called ''Crew Gardens''—provide a boost to the local economy as well. The commute on the E or F train to Midtown Manhattan is about thirty minutes.
