Bayside Real Estate

Picture of Bayside

Situated along Little Neck Bay, Bayside combines the quiet suburban charm of Long Island to the east with the bustle and New York City flavor of Queens to the west. Its shores were once lined with opulent mansions and summer homes, and the neighborhood is still known as one of the borough's most affluent. In 2005, Bayside was a contender for CNN Money's ranking of Best Places to Live and Best Places to Retire. A study in the balance of city and suburb, the neighborhood's superior public schools, fast commute to Manhattan (30 minutes by LIRR), proximity to the Throgs Neck Bridge and highways, and collection of shops and restaurants make it a sought-after residential neighborhood.

The large neighborhood of Bayside includes the communities of Bayside Gables (a privately-owned gated community), Bayside Hills (a well-maintained community of two-story single family homes that dates to 1936), Bay Terrace, Bellecourt, Lawrence Manor, Oakland Gardens (home to Queensborough Community College), Tall Oaks, and Weeks Woodlands.

Historic 19th century homes and tree-lined streets may look more small-town than big-city, but they aren't far from the popular Bell Boulevard strip offering enough lively bars, lounges, cafes and restaurants to make it a nightlife destination for the rest of Queens. The Bay Terrace Shopping Center offers a Loews multiplex, Outback Steakhouse, Barnes & Noble bookstore and more. You'll also find hundreds of acres of parks with ball fields, golf courses, picnic areas, and hiking paths. The Bayside Marina is a great launching point to explore the bay and Long Island Sound. Near the Cross Island is Oakland Lake, a glacial kettle pond that was restored to its near-original condition in the late 1980s.

Bayside's major highways include the Long Island Expressway, Clearview Expressway, and the Cross Island Parkway. Bayside is also connected to Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan and Long Island by the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch at the Bayside station.
