Manorville Real Estate

Located in Suffolk County, Long Island, Manorville covers the largest area of any hamlet in New York. Its northeast portion lies within the Long Island Central Pine Barrens, a heavily-wooded protected zone with wetlands in the northern section near the Peconic River. A significant part of this land is in the Pine Barrens' Core Preservation Area, which means no further development is allowed there. This designated area also serves as a primary source for Long Island's groundwater reserves.

A tiny farming community until recently, Manorville has had a significant role in regional history. The area was once part of a tract of land known as Manor St. George, a land grant given to Colonel William "Tangier" Smith in 1693 in recognition of his service as the governor of Tangier, Morocco.

Manorville is clean, safe, and secluded. Though it is considered part of Long Island's North Fork, Manorville has a central island location the town has no beaches but plenty of parks and recreation opportunities. Wide open spaces and vast wooded areas allow residents a real sense of privacy. And though it is considered a gateway to the Hamptons which lie just to the southeast, homes are affordable here. Manorville is served by the Eastport-South Manor Central School District, which also serves parts of both Brookhaven and Southampton. There are plenty of dining and shopping options here and in nearby towns.

Manorville may be secluded, but it's also a transportation hub. Both the Long Island Expressway and Sunrise Highway run through Manorville; Long Island MacArthur Airport is about ten miles away. The Hamptons Jitney stops in Manorville for easy access to the Hamptons. The nearest Long Island Rail Road stations are in Yaphank and Shirley-Mastic; the trip to New York City by rail takes about an hour and 45 minutes.

Manorville is known as much for the Long Island Game Farm Wildlife Park as for its seclusion and historic homes. The Game Farm, located on 300 acres of pine forest, is a park and petting zoo that gives kids a chance to feed animals from domestic to exotic, observe them in habitats along winding nature trails and take pony rides.
