Bohemia Real Estate

Founded in 1855, the village of Bohemia was founded by Slavic immigrant from the Central European kingdom that gave it its name. The Bohemia Historical Society is one of the most active in the region, preserving buildings and landmarks from 150 years of settlement. Buildings in a variety of post-Civil War styles are available, some of which are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Nearly half of 8.7 square miles of Bohemia village is occupied by Bohemia County Park. This thickly wooded recreation area offers picnic spaces, nature viewing and trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The western border of Bohemia County Park abuts against the Bayard-Cutting Arboretum and Connetquot River State Park. Combined, these form one of the largest green spaces in the area.

Bohemia's main drags are Locust Avenue, Lakeland Avenue and Church Street, offering a variety of shopping, restaurants and services. Although Bohemia has no beachfront property, public beaches and marinas are less than 10 minutes away in Oakdale, Sayville and Bayport. New York City's opportunities are an easy drive down the Long Island Expressway, or a ride on the Long Island Railroad. The Long Island MacArthur Airport sits on the northeast border of the village.

Just over 10,000 residents call Bohemia home. An unincorporated hamlet, Bohemia receives services from Connetquot School District and Suffolk County Police.
