Albertson is home to the Clark Botanic Garden, a 12-acre "living museum" dedicated to horticultural education and research, and public play space at Albertson Park.
Although land-locked Albertson has no beachfront property, public beaches form the borders of neighboring communities Manhasset, Port Washington and Sea Cliff. More than 20 golf courses are within a 10-minute drive.
Townsend Albertson founded the community in the 17th century when he started a farm and gristmill in the area. Roads to New York were developed through town as early as the mid-1800s.

Albertson has its own fire department, and receives police service from Nassau County. It shares public elementary schools with neighboring Searville and high school students attend nearby Herricks High School.
