The iconic “Barbie Penthouse” once owned by Mattel founders Ruth and Elliot Handler and former home to real-life Barbie and Ken, has hit the open market in Los Angeles for the the first time ever at just under $10 million, The NY Post exclusively revealed this week.
Barbara and Kenneth, children to Ruth and Elliot, grew up in the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom condo at the full-service Century Towers building in Century City.
The home is filled with Venetian plaster, designer wallpaper, custom millwork, 12-foot ceilings, Holly Hunt decorative light fixtures, French fume-finished white oak wood floors and some of the best views in Los Angeles.
“It doesn’t feel like you’re looking over the view — it feels like you’re in the view,” co-listing agent Carrie Berkman Lewis told The Post. “Mirrored surfaces reflect the natural light everywhere you look… It’s hard to photograph for that reason!”
Co-listing agent Scott Segal called the de Giulio kitchen “one of the most-photographed kitchens in the world” with it’s crystal quartz island, sliding Calcutta marble backsplash, custom La Cornue range and sliding ladder.
The penthouse’s current owner, interior designer Nicole Sassaman, told The Post she is “ready to let someone else have the dollhouse,” after nearly a decade in the home.
