Martha Gundersen fell in love with the Hamptons the minute she arrived in 1980 and nothing has changed. “Nowhere do you have such natural beauty,” she says.
In the time since, Martha has built a successful career selling that very beauty as a top producing real estate agent Out East with sales totaling over $1 billion. In January she joined Douglas Elliman’s Bridghampton office.
Elliman Insider recently caught up with Martha to find out why now was the right time to join her brand with Douglas Elliman.
1) When did you start considering Douglas Elliman?
When you’re working in real estate in the Hamptons, everyone has their eye on Douglas Elliman at some point. Recently the company has gone through some really dynamic branding changes that has puts them in front of both buyers and sellers in a unique way, which I really loved.
2) What about Elliman are you excited for the most?
I’m most excited about how Elliman positions me to take by business to the next level. Of course we have local saturation in the market, but Elliman also allows me to offer my clients a global reach through our partnership with Knight Frank Residential (London), fantastic public relations and marketing departments, and the best online presence in the industry.
“I always believed running with the best and brightest is what separates the good from the excellent.”
– Martha P. Gundersen
3) How has Elliman changed your business plan?
It has allowed me to grow tremendously. I have been involved with people I would not have had the chance to work with previously. Elliman has a large presence in the Hamptons and the support has connected me with so many new people, allowing me to expand my client base and close deals I would have never dreamed possible.
4) How has it upped your real estate game?
I always believed running with the best and brightest is what separates the good from the excellent. I think we push one another professionally at Douglas Elliman to achieve new heights for our clients.
5) What finally helped confirm your decision to join Elliman?
I was able to meet a fellow Elliman agent, Paul Brennan who has 40+ years of real estate experience. His outlook—that it’s not about him, it’s all about serving the needs of the clients—really resonated with me. I was inspired that he was able to take that approach and apply it successfully at Elliman and I knew I wanted to come on board. The combination of real estate experience and knowledge is the best that any agent out here in the Hamptons can offer their clients.
