The Macy’s fireworks display never disappoints. In it’s 42nd year, the 2018 show will be launching from barges positioned in the East River from East 40th Street down to East 23rd street. Crowds will gather along the East River esplanade and elevated sections of the FDR Drive for prime viewing from Manhattan. On the Long Island City side of the river, Gantry State Plaza offers equally breathtaking views with the backdrop of Manhattan.

Long Island: Jones Beach July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular
The south shore of Long Island’s Jones Beach hosts it’s annual fireworks display on the Central Mall beachfront, and more than 140,000 people head there each year for the show. Be sure to pack a picnic, blanket or beach chairs and leave early to guarantee a good spot for the 9:30pm display. Traffic usually spikes around around 6pm, so instead of driving, you can walk or ride your bike about five miles along the Cedar Creek County Park path to Jones Beach and avoid parking fees.
Other areas to catch the show include Wantagh Park and Cedar Creek Park, or boat owners can claim their spot on the bay for a unique vantage point. California: Marina Del Rey’s Fourth of July Fireworks
Though the fireworks won’t begin until 9pm, it’s recommended to arrive in the area no later than 1pm and stay for the day as street closures begin between 1–4pm. Two of the best on-shore viewing locations are Burton Chace Park and Fisherman’s Village, or charter a private yacht for an up-close vantage point.
