Coconut Grove Real Estate

Often referred to by locals as "the grove," Coconut Grove is the oldest continuously inhabited neighborhood in Miami. The Miami-Dade County, Florida community is south of the neighborhoods of Brickell and The Roads and east of Coral Gables. The eastern border of Coconut Grove is Biscayne Bay.

Tucked between Biscayne Bay and U.S. Highway 1, the waterfront village vibe of Coconut Grove offers a laid-back alternative to the high-energy bustle of the international metropolis of Miami. From gallery walks and outdoor dining to quirky festivals and sailboat races, there's always something to do. The eastern border of Coconut Grove is Biscayne Bay, and the community offers a sailing club, a yacht club and Dinner Key Marina. The coastal area that contains Peacock Park, Dinner Key and Kennedy Park comprises the waterfront heart of Coconut Grove.

Formerly an independent city, Coconut Grove was annexed by the city of Miami in 1925. In the 1960s, the bayfront community was an epicenter of youth countercultural activity, hosting frequent love-ins and concerts; it remains an ideal location for outdoor festivals and events, including the annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival (the county's biggest outdoor arts festival), the King Mango Strut (a parody of the Orange Bowl Parade), The Great Taste of the Grove Food & Wine Festival and the Goombay Festival (a Caribbean Carnival celebrating Bahamian and Caribbean music and culture).

Coconut Grove is home to freewheeling tycoons, artists, writers and musicians and known for its eccentrics, and free spirits. As Miami's original art district, the grove's art scene offers something for everyone. Coconut Grove is also known for its eclectic selection of restaurants and open air cafes. You'll find Italian, Peruvian, Indian, Mexican, Japanese, Mediterranean, French, Italian, Argentine, pan-Latin, pan-Asian, vegetarian, seafood and American fare all within just a few blocks. After dark, the grove becomes a nightlife destination frequented by young professionals and students from the nearby University of Miami and Florida International University.

Coconut Grove is directly served by the Miami Metrorail at Coconut Grove and Douglas Road stations. Coconut Grove Metrobus Connection connects at Coconut Grove and Douglas Road stations.
