About Me

John Golden has been a top broker in the Hamptons since the mid 1980s, having sold most of the major oceanfront estates from East Hampton to Southampton many times over to the top echelon of Wall Street, Hollywood and the Arts. He owes his success to a worldwide network of contacts and the innate ability to know what his clients and customers need.

He now manages over $100 million in listings from Southampton to Montauk.

In 2002 he left the Hamptons to live in his house in Portland, Maine, a 1910 brick Georgian Colonial considered one of the finest houses in the city. During those years he brokered major properties along the Maine Coast while maintaining a steady participation in Hamptons real estate. In 2007 he returned to the Hamptons and joined Prudential Douglas Elliman's East Hampton office where he has quickly regained his legendary position amongst Hamptons brokers. He is also knowledgeable about Manhattan real estate as well as estate properties in Palm Beach, FL and coastal New England.

Born, raised and educated in New York on the Upper East and West Sides, he graduated from Columbia and began a publishing career and became at the time a leading food editor and writer for magazines and book publishers. Ultimately owning a small publising imprint, he sold it and moved out to his house in the Hanmptons in 1985, when he began his real estate career. He occasionally still writes for magazines and newspapers.

Among his many interests are culinary pursuits, often traveling far and wide to visit an up and coming restaurant or to seek out specialty purveyors of organic foodstuffs. He is also an avid art collector of early 20th century American impressionists and emerging contemporary artists and maintains a collection of some 200 works of art.
