Gravesend Real Estate

Gravesend

The Gravesend neighborhood in south-central Brooklyn is bounded by Bay Parkway and Avenue P on the north, Ocean Parkway to the east, and the Shore Belt Parkway on the south. The neighborhood has the unique distinction of having been founded by a woman, Lady Deborah Moody.

This is a quiet residential neighborhood with mostly one- and two-family homes on tree-lined streets. There are elaborate mansions here—some of the most expensive in Brooklyn—along Avenues S, T, U and Ocean Parkway, and a few co-ops and apartments in between, providing housing options for all members of the community. Residents here can enjoy the Dreier Offerman Park on the New York Bay waterfront, providing not only wonderful views but also a bocce ball court and other outdoor activities for the warmer months. Nearby Coney Island and Brighton Beach are popular seaside destinations, filled with classic New York City cultural icons and great for summer day trips and celebrations at Coney Island Park and the new KeySpan/MCU Park entertainment complex.

Gravesend is served by the D, F and N subway lines with stops at Kings Highway, Avenue U, and Gravesend/86th Street stations. The Shore Parkway along the waterfront allows easy access by car.
