The quaint village of Greenport sits at the edge of the beautifully halcyon region of Eastern Long Island called the North Fork. Greenport is a great spot for those in search of a quiet, peaceful and often times more affordable alternative to East Hampton, New York.
Greenport sits above Gardner’s Bay and has roughly 2,000 people occupying its lovely cottages and summer homes. The village mixes its old roots with renowned, farm-to-table fare featured in publications such as The New York Times. Restaurants like Noah's located on Front Street, the town's main street, use vegetables from nearby farms and local seafood to impress patrons with delectable cuisine.
Shelter Island residents use the North Fork Ferry service located in Greenport, and they're greeted by the town's antique carousel dating back to the 1920's. For those who appreciate great wine and beer, the town is located near 40 vineyards and is also home to the Greenport Harbor Brewing Company.
Deep water docking is host to yachts from all over the world. The Tall Ships arriving in summer to partake in the Maritime Festival bring the harbor back to a time when the great sailing ships left from Greenport for parts all over the world.
This picturesque and historic beach town is truly a delight and it's really no wonder it was named as one of the country's prettiest towns by Forbes Magazine.
